The crown chakra is located at the centre of your skull, between the prefrontal and parietal lobes. It connects with the Willis circle of where the primary nerves at the brain's base converge. The left and right branches of the vagus nerve originate here, in cranial nerve X. This brain region also includes fibres from the ophthalmic, trigeminal, maxillary, and mandibular nerves.
These fibres facilitate sensations between your face and brain, enabling the senses of smell, sight, movement, taste, hearing, and balance. The crown chakra at the brain's top supports your interaction with the world through your five senses. This upper brain area is responsible for higher reasoning, emotional, symbolic, and intuitive functions.
The crown and third eye chakras are connected to the dorsal medial nucleus in the thalamus, which filters information from the brainstem. This part of the thalamus relays emotional, sensory, sleep, and consciousness messages to the prefrontal cortex.
Nerves in the throat area are crucial for listening, gathering information, and communicating emotional connections and higher awareness. They also foster empathy and the desire to understand and be understood.
Never underestimate the healing power of your touch regarding self-regulation. The energy centre in your palms channels heart chakra energy down your arms. Despite your head's hard work, it remains a delicate part of your body.
Completing the Crown and Vegas Mudra, as we did in class, supports the energy centres on your head and face and fosters a deep connection with yourself, the forefinger alignment is important as it interacts with the myelinated nerves. Practice a few minutes daily
